Ingredients

  • pounds sirloin or ribeye steak cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
  • Red pepper flakes optional, for heat

Method

  1. Prep the Steak:
  2. Pat steak cubes dry and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Sear the Steak Bites:
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak bites in a single layer (cook in batches if needed). Sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned but still juicy inside. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
  6. Reduce heat to medium. Add garlic to the same pan and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Simmer for 1–2 minutes.
  7. Optional Thickening:
  8. For a thicker glaze, mix water with cornstarch in a small bowl and stir into the sauce. Simmer another 1–2 minutes until thickened.
  9. Toss Steak in Sauce:
  10. Return steak bites to the pan and toss to coat in the glaze. Heat through for another minute.
  11. Serve:
  12. Garnish with parsley, green onions, or red pepper flakes. Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or over stir-fried vegetables.

Notes

  • Steak choice: Use a tender cut like sirloin, ribeye, or tenderloin for the best results.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan: Searing in batches helps get a good crust on the steak.
  • Marinate option: For extra flavor, marinate steak cubes in a bit of soy sauce, garlic, and oil for 15–30 minutes before cooking.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat to keep the glaze sticky.
